Builder and Explorer are my two strongest categories as a gamer and Terraria has already sucked about 50hours of my life in its first week since launch. I have to believe that Terraria was made by developers who fall into the builder category. On the flip side, more casual explorers may find that Terraria gives you too much freedom and may have trouble focusing on a given task or adventure.īuilders - Bottom line, if you are a builder, you cannot pass up on this game. The amount of open world to discover and the sheer amount of things to do are unmatched by any Xbox Live Arcade game I've ever played (aside from Minecraft of course). ![]() The following are the categories of gamers who I believe will enjoy Terraria the most.Įxplorers - If you are an explorer, I'd very comfortably say that you cannot afford to pass on Terraria if you haven't already played it on PC. Either way you slice it, Terraria is a game I believe gamers who enjoy exploration, building and customizing cannot afford to pass on playing Terraria. The main difference is obviously Terraria's 2D 16-bit esque approach. You no longer need to worry about your pic-axe or your other tools wearing out-at least on the easier difficulty setting. In this case, I'm mainly talking about tools that degrade with use. I can say that some of the tedious parts of Minecraft are missing from Terraria. I've only played Minecraft for about 5hours, so I'm not intimately familiar with the similarities and differences. Much like Minecraft you have a free open world designed to let you build or destroy to your heart's content. If I had to sum Terraria up with just two words, they'd be Freedom and Depth.
